Pasadena Yacht and Country Club Wedding – Pink & Tiffany Blue Florida Destination Wedding with St. Petersburg Wedding Planner Special Moments
Elizabeth and Jason met at a pharmacist conference in New Orleans and stayed in touch until their next meeting six months later.
“It was then that Jason and I had our first date,” Elizabeth explained. “Jason was living in Pittsburgh and I in D.C. at the time, so after the first date we began our long distance relationship.”
After dating more than two years, Elizabeth relocated to Pennsylvania to be with Jason, and 1 1/2 years later he proposed.
“I had driven home from Indiana with our English bulldog puppy Rooney. I got in the garage and called up the stairs for Jason, but what I saw was the baby gate up to keep Rooney downstairs and the stairs were lined with red rose petals. There was Jason with candles lit, and then he told me how much he loved him and wanted to spend his life with me. Then he presented a small box with the ring in it, and he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I had no idea what the ring would look like and was so surprised at how beautiful it was. He did such an amazing job at designing it,” Elizabeth reminisced.

Elizabeth's parents have a second home at the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club, so the couple chose the St. Petersburg, FL area for their destination wedding.
“We thought wherever we had our wedding friends and family would travel so why not pick somewhere that could be a mini-vacation,” Elizabeth explained.
Although she picked a tropical setting, the bride chose English country decor.
“I love Downtown Abbey and almost all things vintage, so I wanted to embrace the beach and yacht club but not make it be the center of the wedding theme,” Elizabeth said. “We had a mix of white and light pink flowers; it made the room light and airy.”
To assist with planning a St. Petersburg destination wedding, the pair hired St. Petersburg wedding planner Special Moments.
“We interviewed several planners and Tammy [of Special Moments] was the only one that the Club recommended and the only one that made us feel at ease,” Elizabeth shared. “She made me feel as though everything I wanted was possible. She seemed to understand my vision and we seemed to connect.”
At the groom's request, the couple focused on keeping their wedding guests entertained.
“Jason loves ice cream; so we had Cold Stone Creamery at the wedding. He also loves photo booths so we had one of those,” Elizabeth said. “We had a mini-fireworks show at the end of the night as our send off for us, but also for our guests. We just wanted everyone to have an amazing time, and we focused a lot of our energy on making the reception the focal point.”

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Think closely about what most matters to you on your day. For us we didn't care about the invitations, Save-the-Dates or programs as much as we cared about the things we had the reception. I am not saying that we didn’t spend time on those things, but we weren’t as worried and didn’t spend a ton of money on them. We wanted them to look nice but at the end of the day, no one remembers the program or invite, but they remember the reception, so we picked and chose what we wanted to spend money on.
I also think a planner is a great thing to have. It may seem like a non-necessity, but at the end of the day a planner really helps you prioritize what is most important and is a great resource to for you in making those difficult decisions. Plus, they know everyone!
